Stettyn Family Vineyards

Stettyn Family Vineyards

Arriving at Stettyn Family and Vineyards farm was a thrilling experience. There was that expectation thrill in the air that you are waiting on something that will happen. You know something is about to happen, but you are not all too sure what.

Some of the owners of Stettyn was waiting for us with a surprise of their own. After our arrival, we have whisked away in 4X4 vehicles on a small, very private tour to somewhere on the farm.
We went through some of the vineyards on the farm where vines and some olives were planted and were shown some old vines that were about 20 years old, but still produced some of the most extraordinary wines possible.

We saw some antelope, some zebra’s and were told about five collared leopards in the mountains.
Right at the highest Plato, without going into the mountains, we stopped where a picnic in the form of sparkling wine prepared just for us!

Well, this was a treat and a half. We could see most in either direction and noticed many Eland, Zebras, other antelope all over the farm. This sightseeing trip was just a private little tour that might be experienced later on by some more people, but for now, it is just personal. It was my highlight, though!

Back at the cellar, we were left in the professional hands of Annaline, and this lady has got NO brakes. She is the authentic version of a non-stop laughing machine! So many anecdotes and sayings and jokes from one person are mesmerizing.

I would return to the cellars to spend some more time tasting and sampling the tray of food. Oh yes, to listen to her and her sayings. What a happy person.

There is no lunch as such, BUT we were surprised by the most magnificent winter platters you can experience! We enjoyed some of the most excellent wine and the best conversation about the exceptional varietals and why the wine at Stettyn tasted so good! If you ever visit Stettyn, do not forget to ask about their Babelki; it is a bottle of sparkling wine and one to get lyrical over. YES, I had a couple of glasses 🙂

The Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc is also some of the more unique wines I have sampled in a long time, and I would recommend them to anyone!

Stettyn will be renovating from June until October for expanding the tasting room facilities. The wait will be worth it! Watch this space.
