Rijks Wine Estate and Hotel

Where to begin, We attended the Vintage and Vine Faire at Manley Wine Estate and would have stayed there, but we tried too late to get a booking. Luckily Rijks Wine Estate and Hotel still had some units open.

I am not surprised by many places, but Rijks Wine Estate and Hotel did just that. We arrived after 18:00 and were met by Avril. What a star!!! She let us feel welcome and essential at the same time. Booked us in and describe how we can get to our room.

How to describe the room … Well, will awesome, amazing, marvellous, astonishing, fantastic, excellent or all in one suffice? We even had an underground heater in the bathroom. It was accentuated as it was a bit chilly outside.

Then, we went out to eat as we were invited to dine somewhere else that evening.
Arriving back, we crawled into the huge bed, and as my wife said, my head was still in the air, and I was snoring already.

I was awake before the sun was up the following day, made some coffee, and cleaned my phone camera lens. I was amped to make the best of the morning. When the sun peeped out, I went outside, and I was blown away by the meticulous, manicured garden. I am sure that it was the landscaper’s dream to create something as spectacular as this. Even though some of them were not flowering, the succulents had their appeal, with their leaves having different colours to the other ones.

The natural pool with its inherent organic filtration system was something remarkable.

Arriving inside for breakfast, Heidi met us, Rijks Wine Estate and Hotel manager, Avril greeting me on my surname. It was a first for me as usual; people do not remember guests by their surname, especially when there are many people. The breakfast was terrific, and the portions just right. There was also yoghurt and salami, and other cold meats on a buffet to pick and choose what you would like.

The wine tasting room and the other hotel parts is an excuse for us to visit again, enjoy wine tasting, and explore more from this superb hotel.

Do I recommend this hotel? Heck yeah, if you would like to treat your wife, girlfriend or whoever, go and stay at Rijks Wine Estate and Hotel just outside Tulbagh. But, of course, the best is to let them know if it is an anniversary, pre-wedding, or engagement visit. Let them then put the ideas forward so you can enjoy one of the best times in your life!
